LOTD :: Printed Affairs

"Printed Affairs"

HAPPY FRIDAY!!! To all my sugar cubes and fashionista's of the world.

For today's look of the day, I’ve gone with polished look that is effortlessly casual but dressy enough for a date night.  Today I am playing with a prints, when pairing print on print you have to bare in mind that prints are already visually busy on its own so you have to strategically pair a dominant print against a more subtle print, you want to make sure that both prints aren't fighting against each other but rather complementing one another and remember to always use neutral accents for everything else.

We start off with a polka dot button up blouse by H&M which is the first print on this printed affair.  I paired the blouse with blue denim wash super skinnies by Primark to give it a more casual feel.  I buttoned up the blouse all the way to the top and tucked it into the skinny jeans to give it a more polished vibe  and belted the jeans with my grey leather waist belt that has rose gold hardware.  On to the second print of today’s printed affair is my ZARA short striped blazer that has a nautical vibe to it.  The blazer adds a hint of playful corporate flare to the look while still keeping that over all casually effortless feel.

The chosen outerwear for today's look of the day came in the form of black wool cocoon coat with epilates by H&M Studio purchase from the sale of course.  Now I know what you guys are thinking is the middle of spring so am I wearing a wool coat well the answer is “it’s because I live in London where the weather is truly unexpected”.

On bottom, I opted to play off with the polish side of the look by pairing my tan patent leather slip ons by ZARA.  The shoes definitely lend the perfect combination of casual and polish without being too dressy.

For accessories, I went with gold toned jewellery pieces via a multi row chain drape choker necklace by Topshop along with my gold analogue watch by French Connection and of course the gifted ring from my Mother.  I finished off the jewellery by pinning a bow and gems brooch on my coat to give it more of a luxe feel.

Lastly, the chosen bag to go with today's pairing is my Marks & Spencers multi toned chunky chained cross body bag that I got in the sale last summer.  The colour story of white navy and turquoise plays off well with the printed affair ensemble.  The bag also lends both polish and casualness to the look as it is polished enough because of its luxe feel via the hardware and casual enough as it is in the form of a cross body which gives you more ease if you are out and about.

That's it for today’s LOTD and until the next time…FASHION IS THE DICTATOR OF TASTE! ...XOXO...
