LOTD :: Halloween Edition - Shepherd Chic

"LOTD :: Halloween Edition - Shepherd Chic"

LOOK OF THE DAY

HAPPY HUMP DAY! To all the Fashionista's of the world.

As Halloween is fast approaching I thought why don't I come up with outfit ideas that you can translate into a costume for the day itself, think of it as an inexpensive way to dress for the occasion as all you really need is what’s already in your wardrobe.  For the next few days I will be showing you guys wardrobe inspired outfits that easily translates into a Halloween costume.  [PS :: You don’t have to copy exactly what I have on as this is merely some sort of a guide.]

Day five of the Faireycakesz Halloween Chic Edition and today's feature is inspired by the Chic and Rustic Shepherds of the Himalayas.  Of course I did not want to literal but rather inspired hence I styled the general look to be polished yet effortlessly casual.  We start off with a plain white button up by River Island paired with oxblood coated denim moto skinnies by H&M.  I buttoned the button up all the way to the top and tucked it into the skinnies to lend polishness; I then belted the skinnies with my tan concho style leather waist belt by River Island.  To create an even more prim and polished look I layered over a burgundy quilted crew neck pull over by H&M.  No shepherd look is complete without shearling so I have on my H&M faux shearling gilet with black leatherette trim tie-in waist belt to complete today’s inspired look.

An alternative for this look is a space age and all you need is a pin like the one I have below.  This adds that "Star Trek" vibe which is both effortless and classic.

"Alternative :: Space Chic"
"Mirrored Rocket Brooch :: Topshop"

On bottom, I went with my tan tasselled slip on oxfords by New Look to firstly match the scarf and offset the burgundy and oxblood top and bottom piece and to add polished and primness.

For accessories, I as the look is burgundy oxblood majority I decided to opt for cool toned jewellery pieces via pearl collar tips by ASOS followed by a simple analogue watch by ASOS and a bunch of rings by Topshop and H&M.  As per usual the black gem brooch on the gilet is a constant piece.  I finished of the accessories by wearing my minimalistic tribal inspired scarf by H&M to both keep me warm and give that shepherd and earthy look to today's ensemble.

Lastly, the chosen bag to go with today's pairing is the JustFab.co.uk dupe for the Céline Luggage Tote which is the Parisian in cherry red. The bag matches perfectly with the deep oxblood hues of the overall and provides a chic elevation in a monochromatic stance.

That's it for today’s LOTD and until the next time…FASHION IS THE DICTATOR OF TASTE! ...XOXO...

LOTD :: Halloween Edition - Fresh Prince Hillary Banks

"LOTD :: Halloween Edition - Fresh Prince Hillary Banks"

LOOK OF THE DAY

HAPPY Tuesday!

Day four of the Faireycakesz Halloween Chic Edition and today's feature is inspired by the Fresh Prince of Bel Air's Hillary Banks.  She is known for her hats and basic base with bright pops or coordinating ensembles.  Today I am channeling that with an inspired look putting in a casual semi punk twist but using a black printed tee as supposed to a plain black top.  We start off with my Urban Outfitters little black dress tee paired with black coated denim skinnies by New Look.  I belted the skinnies with my black leather waist belt which is a Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo.  I kept the tee hanging out to give it that effortless casual feel while still exuding a level of edginess.  I the added on an electric blue plush tailored blazer by ZARA Man for that bring pop of colour.  Finally for outerwear,  I went with my grey long blended wool overcoat to finish off the look which if I may say so myself paired with an all-black base gives it a rather punkie look.

An alternative for this look is to swap the printed tee for a plain black top and the skinnies for a peplum pencil skirt add big voluminous curly hair and you my dear will be a modern day Hillary Banks for Halloween.

On bottom, I went with my black buckled ankle booties by New Look to give the entire head to toe black base to make the blazer a focal point and hero piece.

For accessories, I opted to go with cool toned jewellery pieces to match the cool electric blue hue of the blazer.  I have on a simple curved bar necklace by H&M followed by a simple analogue watch by Sekonda and a bunch of silver rings by H&M and Topshop.  I then added a pop of red via an diamanté apple brooch by Accessorize.  A Hillary Banks inspired outfit is not complete without a hat so I have on a black pork pie hat by Topshop.

Lastly, the chosen bag to go with today's pairing is the JustFab.co.uk dupe for the Céline Luggage Tote which is the Parisian in cherry red.  The bag offsets the bright blue hue of the blazer which creates an awesome colour block effect.

That's it for today’s LOTD and until the next time…FASHION IS THE DICTATOR OF TASTE! ...XOXO...

LOOK OF THE DAY

HAPPY Thursday!

Day three of the Faireycakesz Halloween Chic Edition and today's feature is Western Navajo this is a two in one inspired look that can go either or.  I went with a general Navajo look but mixed it up by adding pieces that are western inspired to also give a western feel.  We start of with a plain white tee by H&M paired with burgundy trousers also by H&M, I them threw on a Navajo Style Long Cardigan by Primark and belted it at the waist with my Forever 21 dome studded stretch waist belt to give me some shape.  For outerwear, I went with my black cape coat by H&M.

The alternatives to this look are as follows:
1. Full Navajo - Switch the hat with bohemian hair accessories like a braided head band or hair feathers.  Give yourself a Native American eye make-up and that's it you’re done!

2. Full Western - Ditch the cardigan and use the belt as the belt for the cape to give it that bullet type accessory and then add a triangle scarf to give it a western bandit look after that all you'll need is a toy gun and you’re good to go.

On bottom, a buckled shoe always exudes western especially if the buckles are crossed.  The hardware effect gives it that cowboy type feel which is a must in a western look.  I chose to wear my faux suede cross buckled ankle booties by New Look.

For accessories, I went with warm toned jewellery pieces to match the burgundies in the look via a statement tribal necklace by Primark and a totem tier necklace by Forever 21 layered to make one big statement piece followed by a simple analogue watch and a turquoise and gold bracelet by Accessorize, I finished off the jewellery by adding a few rings by Topshop and Accessorize.  A western look is not complete without a wide brim hat here I have a black one by Marks & Spencer to match the cape coat.

Lastly, the chosen bag to go with today's pairing is the JustFab.co.uk dupe for the Céline Luggage Tote which is the JustFab Parisian in cherry red.  The bag seemed fitting to go with today's look as it is made out of faux crocodile leather the deep cherry redness of it ties in perfectly with the burgundy shades of today's look.

That's it for today’s LOTD and until the next time…FASHION IS THE DICTATOR OF TASTE! ...XOXO...

LOOK OF THE DAY

HAPPY HUMP DAY! To all the Fashionista's of the world.

As Halloween is fast approaching I thought why don't I come up with outfit ideas that you can translate into a costume for the day itself, think of it as an inexpensive way to dress for the occasion as all you really need is what’s already in your wardrobe.  For the next few days I will be showing you guy’s wardrobe inspired outfits that easily translates into a Halloween costume.  [PS :: You don’t have to copy exactly what I have on as this is merely some sort of a guide.]

Day two of the Faireycakesz Halloween Chic Edition and today we are dressing up as a chic leopard kitty cat.  We start off with a leopard printed blended silk button up blouse by H&M paired with dark acid wash denim super skinnies by New Look.  I buttoned the blouse all the way to the top to give polish and belted the jeans with a Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo two toned leather waist belt.  I layered over leopard printed black pull over by New Look.  For outerwear, I wore my faux shearling gilet with black leatherette trim tie-in waist belt by H&M [I am wearing the gilet strictly for warmth and would not include this as part of a a chic costume].  An alternative to this look is leopard printed trousers or jeans and leopard printed shoes, I chose to go for the "subtle approach" instead for office wear purposes.

On bottom, I went with a neutral approach by wearing my nude patent lace up oxfords by New Look to offset the acid wash texture, the print and the faux shearling.

For accessories, I opted to go with gold tone jewellery pieces via a tiered tribal necklace by Claire's Accessories followed by a simple analogue watch by ASOS and a bunch of rings by Topshop to complete a rather edgy Kitty Cat day look.  I finished off the accessories by wearing my cat eared riding hat by ASOS to give me that feline look.

Lastly, the chosen bag to go with today's pairing is my Prada Saffiano wanna be handbag which is the ZARA office city bag, to add structure and tie in the look all together and give it a polished and structured feel.

LOOK OF THE DAY

HAPPY Tuesday! To all the Fashionista's of the world.  Apologies for not posting yesterday...was feeling under the weather I would have if had the strength but unfortunately, I did not but I'm back in action so join me in this Halloween edition of LOOK OF THE WEEK!

For today's look of the day I decided that I would go for something simple and monotone so I went with everyone's go to colour -black-.

Today's look is a Hitman inspired outfit.  We start off with a black turtle neck by New Look paired with black soft denim skinnies by Marks & Spencer.  I belted the jeans with my Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo two toned leather waist belt to keep it on my waist...LoL...  I topped of the look with a black quilted moto leather jacket by Topshop to give it that edgy look.  The key to a Hitman ensemble is two things, and that is think black all black and of course the plain black baseball cap.

On bottom, I kept it in black to give me a streamlined silhouette via my black buckled ankle booties by New Look.

For accessories, I went with a somewhat minimalistic approach by pairing a dainty evil eye necklace by H&M followed by a simple analogue watch by ASOS and a bunch of rings by Topshop and H&M.  No Hitman outfit is complete without a black baseball cap so I wore my felt baseball cap with leather inset by H&M.

Lastly, the chosen bag to go with today's pairing is my Prada Saffiano wanna be handbag which is the ZARA office city bag, to add structure and tie in the look all together and give it a polished and prim chicness feel.  Of course for costume purposes a rectangular bag will act as your sniper gun case.

That's it for today’s LOTD and until the next time…FASHION IS THE DICTATOR OF TASTE! ...XOXO...

LOOK OF THE DAY

HAPPY FRIDAY! To all the Fashionista's of the world.

For today's look of the day I went with a dark approach with a preppy edginess to it.  Seeing that I have been wearing something leopard this whole week leopard is of course a part of today's look.  Leopard is one of the top trends for AW 13/14 so I've definitely stocked up and got in touch with my animalistic side.

We start off with a plain black button up by Primark paired with black coated denim skinnies by New Look.  I buttoned the button up all the way to the top for that polished look and belted the skinnies with my Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo two toned leather waist belt to keep them on my waist [LoL].  I then layered over the button up a black leopard printed pull over.  For outerwear, I went with my H&M black cape coat for the ultimate chic factor and bring in additional polish to the look.

On bottom, I decided to pair my black buckled ankle booties by New Look that I am currently obsessing about as I have worn it numerous times since I bought it a week ago.

For accessories, I paired a rose gold and silver abstract statement necklace by New Look and followed the silver in the necklace with a simple analogue watch by ASOS and a simple silver band on my ring finger by Topshop.  I wanted to make the necklace the focal point for the accessories hence the minimalistic approach.

Lastly, the chosen bag to go with today's pairing is my Prada Saffiano wanna be handbag which is the ZARA office city bag, to add structure and tie in the look all together and give it a polished and prim chicness feel.

LOOK OF THE DAY

HAPPY Thursday! To all the Fashionista's of the world.

Today's look of the day is a play on different garment texture to create a city slicker chic look that exudes casual effortlessness, edge, and polish all in one.  I accessorized it with gold toned jewellery pieces to tie in the look together.

We start off with a leopard printed blended silk button up blouse by H&M paired with dark wash denim skinnies by New Look.  I belted the jeans with a Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo black leather waist belt and buttoned the blouse all the way to the top for a polished look, I left it u tucked and hanging for that effortless casual feel.  For outerwear, decided to go with layered look via my Topshop black quilted moto leather jacket under my H&M white faux shearling gilet with black leatherette trim tie-in waist belt.  The layered outerwear creates a monochromatic feel gives the look that overall city slicker chic vibe while the peaking leopard print collar acts focal point for the look as a whole.

On bottom, I played off with the dark wash denim and went with my black faux suede with patent trimming loafers by New Look give the bottom half a more streamlined silhouette.

For accessories, I went with warm toned jewellery pieces via a curved bar necklace by H&M followed by a simple analogue watch by Sekonda along with a mix of rings and midi rings by Topshop.  I finished off the accessories by adding a gem brooch on the faux shearling gilet.

Lastly, the chosen bag to go with today's pairing is my JustFab.co.uk orange power player handbag to add a pop of colour to the look.

LOTD :: Collegiate and Printed

"Collegiate and Printed"

LOOK OF THE DAY

HAPPY Tuesday! To all the Fashionista's of the world.

For today's look of the day I have gone for a more polished approach by going to my go to styling and you guys know that it non other that a casual smart.  Today I styled piece of the same print but in different colour palettes to give it a print on print edge and kept everything else in a light block colours.

We start off with a studded collar chambray button up which is a Vintage GAP that I studded the collar myself paired with grey soft denim super skinnies by River Island.  I belted the jeans with my Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo two toned leather waist belt, to give the look that polished feel I buttoned the shirt all the way to the top but left it untucked and hanging for a casual effortless feel.  To create that collegiate feel I layered over the shirt a semi crop monochromatic leopard printed pull over, I then cuffed the sleeve to ensure the shirt is peaking through.  The final clothing piece of today's look my H&M boyfriend style structured blazer to act as both the outerwear and the tie-in piece for today's look of the day.

On bottom, I went with a print on print combination today by pairing the look with another leopard print piece which is my Primark leopard printed lace up ankle booties.  As leopard can act as a neutral made sure that they were not in the same palette to ensure that it a clash is non-existent and create a rather chic vibe.

For accessories, as the button up already has embellishments in he form of studs I decided to go with a minimalist approach via a curved bar necklace by H&M followed by a simple digital watch by Casio and a simple silver band on my ring finger.  I finished off the jewellery with a statement rainbow swan brooch by Forever 21.

Lastly, the chosen bag to go with today's pairing is my H&M tri-toned shoulder bag to lead more structure and keep an overall preppy feel.

That's it for today’s LOTD and until the next time…FASHION IS THE DICTATOR OF TASTE! ...XOXO...
