LOTD :: Désinvolte Bleu

"Désinvolte Bleu"

LOOK OF THE DAY

HAPPY FRIDAY! To all the Fashionista’s of the world…xoxo…

For today’s look of the day I decided to go with a monochromatic look using a variety shades of blue.  I paired it with tan and neutral accents to give the look some dimension to create that chic factor.

We start off with a royal blue anchor v-neck tee by H&M paired with navy skinny trousers also by H&M.  I tucked in the tee for a polished look and belted the trousers with another H&M piece which is a snake skin skinny waist belt.  I finished the look with a navy blazer yet again by H&M to give it a cool and casual suit look.  I seem to have gone with a majority H&M pieces, I think H&M should make me a fashion spokesperson…hahahahahaha…Wishful thinking.

On bottom, I went with a polished approach with footwear via my New Look tan tasselled slip on oxfords.  Not only are they comfortable they also add a chic factor to the look.

For accessories, I went with cool toned jewellery pieces to perfectly match the coolness of the blue via a layered necklace by New Look along with a simple analogue watch by ASOS followed by a bunch of rings by Topshop and New Look.

Lastly, the chosen bag to go with today's pairing is my nude winged tote by New Look for a neutral approach as the look is all-blue.

That's it for today’s LOTD and until the next time…FASHION IS THE DICTATOR OF TASTE! ...XOXO...

LOTD :: Batter Up! Sport Chic

"Batter Up! Sport Chic"

LOOK OF THE DAY

Happy Thursday! To all the Fashionista's of the world...xoxo...

For today's look of the day I felt like I don’t show you guys a more sporty side of me (dress wise of course) so I thought today I should break away from the glam and go with something more casual but still effortlessly chic with a sporty approach.

We start off with a stripes and spots star monochromatic jumper by Primark paired with black high rise ankle grazer skinnies by Marks & Spencer.  I belted the skinnies with my tan concho style leather waist belt by River Island to keep it in place.  As the jumper is a little on the outsized fit I decided to add my Topshop wool and leather panelled bomber jacket to give me some shape and to also give an overall feel of sport chic.

On bottom, I wanted to be a little literal with today's sport chic look and so I went with my hidden wedge hi-top trainers by River Island to keep a general sporty feel.

For accessories, I stuck with silver toned jewellery pieces lime yesterday via arrowheads and beads necklace by New Look followed by a simple digital watch by Casio and a bunch of silver rings by New Look and Topshop.  I finished off the accessories department by wear my H&M felt baseball cap to give the entire look that chic factor while keeping the general sporty vibe.

Lastly, the chosen bag to go with today's pairing is my Primark Backpack to add a hint of collegiate jock touch.  I love that the colour of the backpack in complete contrast with the jacket as this gives off a colour blocking effect.

That's it for today’s LOTD and until the next time…FASHION IS THE DICTATOR OF TASTE! ...XOXO...

David Koma - SS14 - Runway Show @ London Fashion Week

David Koma - SS14 - Runway Show @ London Fashion Week

I did not get the chance to see the David Koma show in the flesh, however I did happen to stumble across a video of the show through YouTube courtesy of the British Fashion Council channel.

The first thoughts that went through my head whilst watching the show online were futuristic version of the Stepford Wives and ready-to-wear avant-garde pieces.  The mix of textures, clean lines and structured pieces the collection had were absolutely innovative for SS14.  I love David Koma's use of colours of minimalism in the sense of palette as he mostly stuck with light pinks, blues, and monochromatic hues of whites and blacks. The pieces he showcased for SS14 we're very structured, I say this because of how the garments were constructed, as I mentioned clean lines come to mind when I look at his collection.  The pieces were "engineered" to fit perfectly on the body of the model which gave it a streamlined effect.  From the separates of crop tops and skirts to the pant suits, from the A-Line dresses to the more figure hugging dresses streamlined and edginess resonates.

His SS14 collection is a perfect combination of edgy and romance.  Now I know romance generally means florals and lace, I say romance on the basis of the soft hues his palette consisted and how a number of his dresses had an A-Line cut to it which is juxtaposed with edgy asymmetry of some of the separates and the figure hugging dresses he had on the show.  This brings me to my favourite ensemble that walked the runway and that is the cobalt blue sleeveless asymmetrical pant suit paired with a caged design top [as I did not get to see the show up front I am not entirely sure] this is pure fashion genius, the moment I saw it I felt like reaching through the screen and taking it right there and then, that's how much I loved it.  The long lined sleeveless jacket is perfectly paired with a tailored pants with exposed exaggerated pockets which at first I thought was some sort of a peplum design.

I must say that David Koma is definitely one of the innovators for British Fashion and I truly admire his design aesthetics.  To me he should be a designer staple in our wardrobes.

LOTD :: Cool with Pastel

"Cool with Pastel"

LOOK OF THE DAY

HAPPY HUMP DAY! To all the Fashionista's of the world...xoxo...

For today's look of the day I decided to inject colour in a dreary and gloomy day in London Town so I went for a colour blocking ensemble featuring a never before seen trend for Autumn and Winter and that is pastel.  The Fashion world calls it the AW pastels mostly consisting of pinks, blush, lavenders, mints and peaches only to name but a few.  Basically, if its pastel it’s on trend.  When the trend walked the runways of Fashion Week AW13 in February majority of the pairings were monotones but with today's pairing were veering towards colour blocking.

We start off with a mint green hi-low knitted jumper by ZARA paired with my H&M grey high rise skinny trousers.  I belted the trousers with my tan woven leather waist belt which is a Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo.  I colour blocked the jumper by pairing it with a soft peach box fit lightweight blazer by H&M and to an editorial feel I draped my Primark taupe double breasted mac pea coat.

On bottom, I went with my nude patent lace up oxfords by New Look to blend in with the trousers and create a neutral streamlined bottom half for the colourful top half.

For accessories, I went with silver toned jewellery pieces via a geometric necklace by H&M followed by a simple analogue watch by ASOS along with a bunch of rings by Topshop and New Look.

Lastly, the chosen bag to go with today's pairing is my ZARA two toned day clutch to mix in with the colour block that I already have with the mint and peach.

That's it for today’s LOTD and until the next time…FASHION IS THE DICTATOR OF TASTE! ...XOXO...

LOTD :: C'est Noir Le Magnifique

"C'est Noir Le Magnifique"

LOOK OF THE DAY

Happy Tuesday to all the Fashionista's of the world...xoxo...

For today's look of the day I went nearly all-black.  In Fashion black is definitely the classic staple hue in every fashionista's wardrobe as not only does it make you look slender it also an instant chic factor especially when you go with an all-black ensemble.

We start off with a black button up by Primark paired with black coated denim skinnies by New Look.  I buttoned the shirt all the way to the top for a polished feel but kept it untucked to give an effortless casual vibe then I belted the coated denim skinnies with my Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo black leather waist belt mostly to keep it in place [LoL].  I then layered a black box fit lightweight blazer by H&M to add more chic factor to it yet again to keep that effortless casual vibe I cuffed the sleeves of the blazer and push it up to 3/4 length then I added another layer which is my black cape coat also by H&M.

On bottom, as the majority of the ensemble is in the hue of noir I decide to change it up a little by pairing my Primark faux suede buckled ankle booties that has studs and spikes design on the heel area to give the look a subtle touch of a western feel.

For accessories, you can never look bad in all black outfit especially if you pairings are super on point so fpr jewellery I with simple but with a statement via gems and spike necklace for that subtle edge followed by a simple analogue watch by Sekonda along with a few rings in the form of a simple band by Topshop, a leopard head by Accessorize and an edgy statement ring by Primark.

Lastly, the chosen bag to go with today's pairing is mostly to go with the general colour scheme and to add some dimension to an all-noir ensemble so I paired my monochromatic woven day clutch by Accessorize to add the extra umpf!

That's it for today’s LOTD and until the next time…FASHION IS THE DICTATOR OF TASTE! ...XOXO...

LOTD :: Casual City Chic

"Casual City Chic"

LOOK OF THE DAY

HAPPY MONDAY! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and I wish you a FABULOUS week ahead.

Monday's always a drag for most people and I am not going to lie because I feel the same sometimes so I do have days where I just want to dress casual but still somewhat polished because it still needs to be work appropriate so I decided to go with a t-shirt jeans and blazer combo but made it a little more chic by wearing a tee that has print and a little out there paire with average basic denim jeans and a complimenting blazer to match.  Whenever i wear something "basic" i never hold back when it comes to accessories because the final touches are always important to turn "basic" into "chic".

We start off with a leopard tee with a gold emblem design on the front by Topshop paired with my Forever 21 basic blue wash denim skinnies.  I belted the jeans with a my VIntage Salvatorre Ferragamo tan woven waist belt and left the tee hanging to keep the effortless casualness of the entire look.  For extra warmth I just added a beige cardigan by River Island, then to lend structure and tailoring to the look I wore my rusty red plush tailored blazer by ZARA Man juxtaposed against the boxy shape of the tee.

On bottom, I wanted to go with a super casual day wear so I went with my shell pink lace up brogues by New Look.  As the colours of the shoes is neutral it works well with the entire look and gives it that polished effortless casual feel.

For accessories, I went with gold toned jewellery pieces to match with the gold emblem design on the tee and the hardware from the handbag.  I added a collar necklace that has a skull and gems design by ZARA followed by a simple analogue watch by ASOS, a spiked bangle by Topshop and a belt style clamp bracelet by Accessorize.  I also added a bunch of rings by Topshop.

Lastly, the chosen bag to go with today's pairing is the JustFab dupe of the Michael Kors Orange Ostrich Hamilton which is the orange power player handbag.  The bag leads additional edginess due to the hardware and structure because it being squared with clean lines and it also adds a vibrant pop of colour to a somewhat monochromatic look.

That's it for today’s LOTD and until the next time…FASHION IS THE DICTATOR OF TASTE! ...XOXO...

"Biker Prep"

LOOK OF THE DAY

HAPPY FRIDAY! To all he Fashionista's of the world and to all my Sugar Cubez...xoxo...

For today's look of the day I decided to go with a polished biker look that is both edgy, polished, lux and totally put together while still keeping an effortless feel of casualness.  The pieces paired in this look are a play on different textures, from faux leather to faux suede and knit to cotton.  I truly had fun putting is LOTD together and thought that my styling skills were totally bad a**.

On with the look of the day breakdown, we start off with a studded collar shell pink button up by Banana Republic which happens to be a hand me down that I revamped by DYI studding paired with black coated denim super skinnies by New Look.  I buttoned the button up all the way to the top for a more polished presentation however, I kept it untucked for a more effortless casualness feel and then belted the skinnies with my Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo two toned leather waist belt which is also a hand me down but y'all know that because I have mentioned this several times.  I threw on a monochromatic leopard printed semi crop jumper by H&M to a pop of print without being too-too much.  For my outerwear I gravitated towards my black quilted leatherette moto jacket by Topshop to give the look an overall edgy feel.

On bottom, I reached out to my ankle booties with today's look of the day and went with my faux suede buckled ankle booties by Primark with studding and spikes design in he heel area to give it biker edgy feel.

For accessories, I went with gold toned jewellery pieces to match with the black and the hardware from the handbag.  I added a spiked tiered necklace by Claire's Accessories for an edgy look followed by a simple analogue watch by ASOS along with a few rings by Topshop and ZARA.

LOTD :: Motif Flamboyance

"Motif Flamboyance"

LOOK OF THE DAY

for today's look of the day I decided to go with a rather bright approach given that the weather forecast said it's going to be a gloomy day.  I decided to go with bright trousers and one of this seasons must have trend which is the motif sweater trend which coincidentally is also part of a mother trend which the sporty gym derived trend.  Here I made showcase the trend in a more polished and prim pairing rather than going for a literal take on the trend.

We start off with a pink plaid button up by River Island paired with bright pink skinny trousers by H&M.  I buttoned the shirt all the way to the top for a polished feel and belted the skinnies with my Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo tan woven leather waist belt which is a hand me down piece.  I then layered over the brightly printed Minnie Mouse pull over by Forever 21, and to fully achieve that prim and polished look I'm going for I added a boyfriend style boxy blazer by H&M over the pull over.  As the button up peaks out up top and likewise with the sleeves it almost gives the look that subtlety of a collegiate feel.

On bottom, I went with my trusty nude patent lace up oxfords by New Look to give the look that chic factor as patent oxfords are dressier than you normal average oxfords.

For accessories, I went for a mixed jewellery choice in the sense of "category" as the majority are more sweet and romantic while a a couple evoke edginess.  I added studded collar tips on the collar of the shirt to give it an edgy feel and then added a floral necklace which is a gifted piece to sweeten the look and match with the motif sweater followed by a simple analogue watch by ASOS along with a bunch of rings by Topshop.  We finish off the accessory department with a multi coloured swan brooch by Forever 21.

Lastly, the bag I chose to go with today's pairing is structured and brings sophistication to the look as a whole and that is none other than my Primark studded structured flip clasp handbag.  Just to throw another trend top handle bags are also a hit for AW13.

That's it for today's LOTD and until the next time...FASHION IS THE DICTATOR OF TASTE...XOXO...

For today's look of the day I decided to go with my go to style and which as I am sure you guys know its preppy chic with my own twist of course.  The twist time is it’s a combination of western and moto biker with a subtle hint of uptown chic.

"Effeminized Menswear"

LOOK OF THE DAY

I hope ya'll had a wonderful weekend....Have a wonderful week a head my Sugar Cubez.

For today’s look of the day I went with a prim and polished approach by piecing polished garments that compliments and is in contrast of each other but still creates a unified put together ensemble.  I chose to go with two of the primes in colour and kept majority of the colour scheme in a dark palette and then I threw in a couple of animal prints to play with different textures.

We start off with a two toned red button up by Topman paired with dark indigo wash denim skinnies by New Look.  I buttoned the shirt all the way to the top to give it a more prim and polished look and tucked it into the skinnies belting it with my River Island tan concho style leather waist belt.  As the cold season approaches I layered outerwear via charcoal grey plush tailored blazer by River Island and the newest addition to my coat collection the H&M cape coat with epaulettes and belt cinched design.

On bottom, I went with my leopard print lace up ankle booties by Primark to add a different texture to the look as leopard prints can be considered as a neutral print it gives the look a well thought off put together feel.

For accessories, I went with cool tone jewellery pieces via a pearl chained collar tips by ASOS with yet another collar tips also by ASOS in the form of matte black triangle ones.  I then added a simple analogue watch again by ASOS followed by a few rings by Topshop and New Look.

Lastly, the chosen bag to go with today's pairing is my reptile print envelope clutch by ASOS to match the animal print of the shoe and create contrast to the red top.
