LOTD: Layered and Mixed

Layered & Mixed

Today’s look is all about layering and mixing different textures.

[Quick Tip: When creating a Layered Look, you have to make sure that it is all about pairing pieces that have different textures and materials together but still complementing one another. Start off with the lightest layer and build from there while remembering to think about the juxtaposition
s of the textures and materials, so start with the thin to the thick to the thickest to show off all the layers because the important thing to remember when layering is to have a visual of all the textures and layers together. Layering can sometimes look sloppy so you have to try and look for pieces that have 2 different textures and material {I strongly suggest this if you live in a place with mild to warm climate}].

I wanted this layered look to be punk(ish) slash moto style grunge so I layered pieces would give off the vibe without being too literal.

We start off with horizontal striped jumper top as our first layer well actually I have a vest underneath because it starting to get colder outside.  For the second layer I added on this studded denim vest which was an old jacket of my brothers, to reinvent it I hacked off the sleeves and studded the entire upper right side.  I then paired this with a coated denim skinnies in this season must have colour “oxblood” which added the perfect edge and the moto feel to it because of the “leather look” that is has.

On bottom, I went with these tan ankle booties with an exposed textile and cross strap detail.  I really do think that the shoes add the perfect neutral to the look given that the top and bottom are bold both in texture and colour.

For accessories, I decide to go with stack rings, a chevron necklace and simple gold watch and of course let’s not forget the poppy brooch.

The bag of the day is actual a recent purchase [very inexpensive] is this 2-toned soft leather shopper.

Lastly, the third layer and the feature piece the quilted leather moto jacket by Topshop.

That’s it for today’s LOTD and until the next time…FASHION IS THE DICTATOR OF TASTE! …XOXO…
